Trevor Colden adds 2 more top 3 finishes to his winning streak

Trevor snatched up the third place spot at the recent éS Game of Skate on June 19, 2008 in Virginia Beach at Chicho's on 29th and Pacific Avenue. Two days later, Trevor headed out to the second stop of the Mid-Atlantic Skateboard Series (M.A.S.S.) contest in Olney, MD. Accompanied by his Guerrilla Record skate team crew buddies, Korey Gandy and Kyle Drumwright, Trevor opted to bump himself up a level from Advanced Street Division to the Open-Pro Street Division hosted by Aplomb. Neither tired from his recent game of s.k.a.t.e. nor nervous about entering the higher division, Trevor took on that park with ease and secured a second place win. The youngest of the Shmack crew, but he is holdin his own with the big boys for sure! Trevor will head up to Philly on July 19 to compete at the Woodward Park for a spot on the Free Flow Tour sponsored by the AST Dew Tour.

Jaimel won first place at the VB éS Game of Skate

Jaimel recently won first place at the éS Game of Skate on June 19, 2008 that was held at Chicho's on 29th at the Virginia Beach oceanfront. That victory earned him a trip out to Los Angeles, CA to compete in the finals. It is a pretty safe bet that Jaimel will bring the heat at the WRV contest. Big things are on the horizon for him - his momentum is unstoppable right now!

Nasty Tricks!

Glenn hit the streets at the Virginia Beach Oceanfront recently with Julian and hammered out his usually sick-nasty tricks for photographer, John Hesh. Look for photos on the website soon. Glenn will likely compete in July at Trashmore as well.

Photo Shoots x WRV Skate Contest

Lloyd attended an impromptu photo shoot with some of the Shmack skate team and photographer, John Hesh, at the Virginia Beach warehouse. We can just add those pics to the growing list of Lloyd's rapidly accumulating glamour shots! Can anyone name the last spot Lloyd skated?!? Hopefully, he'll pop up at the much anticipated WRV contest at Trashmore on July 12 and show those kids exactly why is highlighted in that star on our website.

"Don't Make Me Bite Your Face"

Jed has a full length part in the recently released Endless Grind video, "Don't Make Me Bite Your Face." His pro-model board by Finesse Skateboards should be hitting the shelves any day now. Jed just wrapped up a sick marathon photo shoot with pictures slotted to be featured in a few skate mag ads as well as some online sites (especially our's!). Jed will be heading to the Outer Banks, NC around Independence Day, and hopefully, will join fellow Shmack skaters, Julian and Matt, at the Cleveland stop of the AST Dew Tour to compete in the Open Qualifiers.

Gumbie competed at the Open Qualifiers of the AST Dew Tour

Gumbie competed in the Open Qualifiers at the AST Dew Tour skate park competition this past Thursday in his home town of Baltimore, MD. After completing several radio show interviews and a couple on air interviews for the local news channels, Gumbie laid down a formidable run on the Dew Tour skate park course and finished in the top half of all the skaters present that day. Just missing the mark for the semifinals, Gumbie headed out with another Fuel TV filmer for a day of shooting local skate landmarks. With the filming lasting a bit longer than expected, Gumbie did not make it to Sonar in time for the Red Bull Mania Mini-Ramp contest, but he and Carleigh did get to dominate the ramp set up in the middle of the bar. Rumor has it that the clean-up crew had to turn the lights off to get them to leave! Saturday, Gumbie checked out the finals with Ju-Tang, took a detour into the Dew Tour Village to stop at the Dew Underground tent where local professional photographer, Geoff Graham, had several shots of Gumbie (and Julian!) on display. Lunch with the ladies and the ever-generous L.E. from Twisted Trees took place at Littla Havanas. Look for Gumbie at the Cleveland stop of the AST Dew Tour July 15-19!

Julian at AST Dew Tour skate competition

Julian went to Baltimore, MD this past weekend for the AST Dew Tour skate competition. After the usual grip-and-grin festivities, Julian hooked up with fellow pro skater, Rodney Jones, and hit up some sweet street spots around Baltimore. With Fuel TV filmer, Brian, in tow, these two shredded State of Confusion Skate Park then ripped up a foundation spot legend known as The Ridge. With barely enough time to shower/sh*t/shave, it was time for Julian to head to Club Sonar for the Red Bull Mania Mini Ramp contest. Thank goodness L.E. (owner of Twisted Trees Skateboards for which Julian skates *check out his pro model!!*) was there, Julian was racking in the prizes and L.E. made many trips to the car to stash them all. Other weekend festivities included a party at Mosaic hosted by pro skater/self-generated hype guru Will Powers, partying with Pro Rider Chris Gentry, and a quick run to Dulles to get Chris Cudlipp to his plane on time. After watching the final skate park competition (yes, Sheckler won), Ju-tang grabbed L.E. and his girl, Lea, to meet fellow Shmack Skate Team member Matt "Gumbie" Therres and his girl, Carleigh who also skates for Mobtown, at Little Havana's for lunch. Then back to Virginia Beach for a small break until the upcoming WRV contest at Trashmore followed by the AST Dew Tour in Cleveland July 15-19 where Ju-Tang will compete in the open qualifiers for a spot in the finals to finish out the five-stop tour.

News Flash back

Trevor Colden got tricks!!
This is FlashBack from August 2007.

A 13-year-old skater, Trevor Colden from Virginia Beach, Va., placed first in the expert competition. Colden excited the crowd with his tricks, the biggest ovation coming after his kick-flip back 50. The trick consisted of Colden jumping down a flight of steps, spinning his board a full 360 degrees, hence the term kick-flip, and then landing back on the board while riding down a rail.

‘‘I have been skating as a hobby for about three years and in the MASS competition for about four weeks,” Colden said.
